The West Aurora School District 129 includes the city of North Aurora and portions of Aurora, Montgomery and Sugar Grove. District 129 serves a growing  population from its urban, suburban and rural areas. The student population is approximately 40.6% Hispanic, 37.9% Non-Hispanic Caucasian, 18.5% African-American, 2% Asian and .2% Native American.

District 129 educates 12,500 plus students in 12 elementary (K-5) schools and four (6-8) middle schools, one high school, one child development center and one special-education facility.

“Vision 129,” plan guides the District's multi-year effort to improve student learning. The plan emphasizes four areas for improvement:

    * Active community involvement
    * Financial responsibility
    * Safe and secure buildings
    * Powerful teaching and learning

Included in this process, District 129 is exploring possibilities such as early-childhood education, a longer school day, an additional academic period at the high school, an enhanced gifted program, as well as additional vocational course
