Montgomery Illinois is experiencing unprecedented growth and has been identified as the State of Illinois ' seventh fastest growing municipality. Its situated in the second fastest growing county in the country. The current population from the 2006 special census is 14,407.

The population of Montgomery, IL reached 11,800 in 2005 and is estimated to exceed 20,000 by the year 2010, a 69% increase in just 5 years. Currently, 16 housing subdivisions in the Montgomery area totaling over 5,300 units are on the drawing board to be completed between 2005 and 2009.



The revitalization of the downtown area will soon include the new Village Hall which is currently under construction. This will be bringing new businesses to the area as well.

Aiding in this growth effort  is the Montgomery Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). MEDC is a non-profit organization funded by local businesses and taxing bodies, along with the Village of Montgomery. The MEDC purpose is to:

Promote economic development, expansion
  and diversification;
Encourage and provide positive direction to the
  development and improvement of trade
  and commerce;
Promote and assist the development of business
  concerns, including small business concerns;
Benefit the community measured by increased
  employment, payroll, business volume, and
  corresponding factors; and
Attract new business to the community and
  encourage the development and retention of
  business in the community.
